I have been striking out lately in my usual fishing spots on the Pamlico, so I wanted to move closer to the sound. The action seems to be around Swan Quarter or further out, so I was looking at putting my yak in at the wildlife ramp near stumpy point. Has anyone put in at this spot? Are the winds and waves a killer? I am going after trout and drum, but if I ran into some bluefish I would not complain. Any help would be appreciated.

You should try Scranton Creek bridge area along 264 in Hyde county. You can put in at Rose Bay Marina. Also the launch ramp at Long Shoals River in Hyde County is pretty good as well. Both places allow you to get out of the wind and still catch plenty of trout, reds and striper.
