I fished the Surf City Pier last night and had a blast. Saw some old friends (including Pier Dweller), made some new ones and got some fish! It don't get any better than that!
The fall fishing has begun. The NE wind has been blowing all week and has brought in cooler water and the fish. The catching was steady, not the block buster kind you can get sometimes in the middle of fall but enough to keep the anglers hopping. Their was a good crowd there last night but still plenty of room.
I caught a nice 2.1 pound flounder and some pompano. The flounder came on a whole shrimp while the pompano where caught with sand fleas (mole crab).
I saw some nice catches of black drum, pompano, small to medium sized blues, flounder, croaker, two puppy drum, sea mullet and a few spots. Morning and evenings are still producing the best results but the mid-day bite should be picking up soon too.
