Anyone know where your allowed to surf fish overnight and build a fire? 2 friends and I want to do some night surf fishing but not without being able to build a fire.

Depends on where you plan on fishing.
Most public town beaches I'd say no.
Barrier island maybe. ...... ICM

I know Topsail Island and Wrightsville Beach don't allow you to build fires on the beach. You could on Hutaff & Lea Island. This Island is located between Topsail Inlet and Richies Inlet. Enjoy!

Looked into Hatteras and Freeman, little further is Bear Island as well. All allow campfires above the tide line.

Not sure about Bear Island allowing fires, they've always told me NO.

Cape Lookout does though.

From the regs: Open campfires can only be built below the high tide line. Visitors may want to check the tide predictions in advance to determine when they can build fires. Loose dead wood on the ground within 200 feet of the shore may be used for campfires. Wood from shipwrecks or historical or archeological sites and wood from standing trees may not be used. Campers are encouraged to bring their own wood because the amount of wood available in the park is extremely limited.
