Decided to fish this evening before Arthur's rain bands got to Hoke Co. and get Dad, who is visiting from Tenn. out on the water. My 3rd pitch of the Senko got hooked up. 1st one in the boat. Phew! At least no skunk. Went downhill for me from then on. Dad went on to embarrass me on my honey hole 7-1. Most of 'em dinks, but 1 impressive bluegill on a zoom finesse. Not bad for an old man who only gets to fish 2-3 times a year!
My dad has passed on now, but I took he and one of his friends salt trout fishing once during cold weather. My dad was doing all the catching, and all 3 of us were fishing with the same lure. I finally asked what he was doing that his friend, and myself were not. He would cast, and let the tidal current swing his lure until it just stopped. He told me he would give a little tug every now and then, and sometimes a trout would be there. At that time we were all probably using fiberglass rods.
