I was blessed enough to go fishing for some native fish with the man, the myth, the legend Mr. Dbeam! We went searching for a Smokies native hat trick on the fly but the wily browns escaped him. They were scared of the beam or maybe it was the blue sunny skies, who knows!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time fishing with Darrell. Learned a lot about fishing and life while getting to be around a great man. However, there is a feller named RouseD... From my understanding, he is quite the card. He hangs around some shady characters but no one holds that against him. He has been developing a super secret WNC Trout Fly since his last Fishing Trip of Terror the hills! I was blessed enough to receive one of these cherished fish magnets. Well, I tied one on and honest to goodness, the third cast - BAM! Dennis, you get bragging rights on that one!!!

Thanks again Darrell! I really appreciated getting to fish with you!

That fly is top secret. Actually, I had no idea what it would do. I ran across it while looking for other flies, and tied some up because they were easy. Since I am a flat lander, and rarely get to the mtns, I decided to see if I could get someone to try this fly. Thanks Bruce for taking a huge chance on it. lol

Thanks for the pics and the story.

I've been fishing (lets say catching) with both of them, dBeam and RouseD. I would have enjoyed the trips if I had not gotten a bite. Both are helpful and give you serious comment that helps. I would recommend either for extended time on a porch with a cold libation discussing how they do it without being over zelous. If you can find the time to match their time I would recommend a trip to the water with either one of them.

Anyone notice that awesome cast from under the tree limbs in the 1st pic? Looks a lot like my casting, but maybe Darrell managed a cast from under those tree limbs. I am used to more open places to do my casting, so not sure how I would do in so many tight spots.

I agree completely. Darrell took me on my first trout outing last fall, and I enjoyed every minute and learned a lot. I spent a day on a boat in Bayboro with RouesD last summer and am still laughing at some of the shenanigans that went on! :D
