The finger mullet are ready to make their run down the beaches and in fact have already started. Close on their heels will be the bigger mullet. Spots should be starting soon also. When the finger mullet are staging near the inlets and starting out of the inlets be there night and/or day with a supply of 4"-6" live finger mullet for some fine fall fishing . One of the best rigs is a carolina rig with a 25# leader and a 2/0 circle hook with just enough lead to allow the bait to slowly move with the current. Sometimes the area you are fishing will be too crowded to allow for much drift and you will have to cast and reel or use a sinker that will hold the bait in one place so come prepared to change rigs. Also carry some spoons such as Crocodile spoons Hopkins spoons Kastmasters and johnson sprites. If the fish are busting bait they usually will be the ticket. As they move into the surf these rigs work there also. AL

While surf fishing keep a light rig baited up with a sand flea. Fish it just insde a break in the first bar on incoming tides and on the backside of the break after the first hour of falling tides. You will eat well if you pick your spot right. Expect to catch pompano, whiting and puppy drum. Have a second light rod baited with blood worms on the bottom of a 2 hook rig and fresh shrimp on the top hook. This rig is the generic panfish rig. when you determine that one bait is by far the most popular switch the other hook to that bait also.keep a couple of stingsilvers or other small metal lures rigged for schools of spanish, blues or other gamefish. On a bigger outfit use live finger mullet for as long as they are available. Then switch to cut bait. tight lines AL
