I spent a couple hours in the river this evening and hooked up with 4 trout. I landed half of those. The two that eluded me jumped and threw the fly. You guessed it: black wooly bugger.

I also got the wits scared out of me when some huge mass came down the deeper run I was standing in. I was initially thinking what the? Carp? Surely not. Huge trout? Of course not. When it got about a foot from my feet I seen that it was a massive beaver just working his way across the bottom.

Good fishing fellas.

Nah. Stocker brown. Rainbows generally are going to have heavy spotting on the tail, even if they don't have the well developed pink/red stripe.

I'll confess something. I'm completely colorblind and sometimes with some of these fish I have a tough time. I usually do well with identification but at times it's iffy. I thought that second pic was a brown due to it not having a silvery sheen to it at all.
