I have 2006 bayliner 205 with 5.0 mercruiser. The boat has been running great till this weekend. There were 5 adults in the boat and everything was fine till I had to stop. We sat around in a cove for about an 1 1/2 hr. The boat started good but when I gave it gas it would only go 5 mph. It would run like this for a while before picking up full speed. It would continue to happen the rest of the day. What could the problem be?

I seem to remember a Suzuki I had once that did something like this when it was time to be serviced. There was a command sequence that overrode the service notification. You might try searching the manual to see if something like that is going on.

Maybe a fuel restriction? Line kinked, filter clogged, vent clogged?

Did you get any kind of warning horn or anything? Like NCangler mentioned maybe something caused it to go into limp mode (oil, overheat, water in the fuel ect)

Did the motor rev up or bog down? If it reved up but didnt go it could be a slipping hub in your prop.
