Topwater action

Been out hitting top water the last couple of mornings and evenings nothing big to talk much about mostly in the 1 - 1.5 pound range but did get a nice 3.5 pounder last night. I have been working mainly a buzz bait and many of the swipes have been light but the ones I land its a big smack at the lure.

tried a buzz plug last night and had first swipe at it but just a swipe not a real attack at the lre. My buddy has been having a little more success on a popper so next time out will have a buzz on one pole, popper on other and buzz plug on the third.

Each outing have averaged 3 fish not bad for about 1 hour per outing. So far this summer have had a 6.5, 5.8 and 4.5 on buzz bait, with about ten others in the 1 - 2 pound range.

One question should I run the buzz bait fast and furious or just enough to keep it on top??

"yes" :D

Gotta let the fish tell you what they want. Regardless of what time of year some days the fish like it just barely popping and sometimes they want to have to chase it. Best thing I can recommend is mix it up when you're working an area, if you notice you're getting more bites at one speed over another, you may have the pattern down for that particular evening.
Missed several this AM on a chartreuse buzz bait, caught a few, foul hooked this one in the top of the head right between the eyes. He swam off fine.

Anyone using a trailer hook on buzz baits?
