Just whinin...

I ran hard last year; went from puffing at the top of a flight of stairs in January to finishing with a respectable time in a half marathon in November. I had a few people warn me that I was pushing it, but what did they know? Apparently more than me. I will likely get scoped later this month and then have to go easy on it for 3-6 weeks. I asked about paddling, and that is okay as long as I don't haul much around. Anyway, 3 tears in my left knee along with some manageable arthritis. Somebody call me a Wahmbulance!

That sucks.

The fish will be upset that you're still a threat to them. They were hoping to do a Tonya Harding thing on your knee.

I may still be able to pull off the BTB trip in May. I will just have to get a stretcher/litter so the other guys can transport me in my yak down to the water and maybe tow me while I fish. Actually the paddling is okay to do, but getting gear down steps will probably require some help for a few weeks.
My sister ran the half marathon Sunday. I told her yesterday I wonder how many people just flat out quit or dialed it way back when they came up on someone receiving CPR.

Hey, hope the ol knee gets better without much scientific intervention.

Thanks! I never let that scare me too much. I was an avid skier for years when I lived out west, and they back ambulances up to the base lodge every morning before they start the lifts. :D I am not sure paddling with sharks will be a whole lot safer, but I am looking forward to it...

I have a torn meniscus and have not had surgery yet, just have been putting it off between work, hunting/fishing, and school. I promise you that you will not regret the surgery! It is a real pain carrying a yak into your favorite creek with your knee cap rolling all around...
I have not had problems the knee cap really moving around or the joint locking or being unstable. But I get blink-back-tears pain when I happen to move in just the wrong way or sometimes it comes out of the blue while I am just sitting. The kind that cuts you off in mid syllable if you're talking. The doc said that very few people regret this surgery; the worst that happens is it doesn't help as much as hoped. But you can't work it out or rehab it. He said there are only two things he can do for me - arthroscopic surgery or sign the DMV tag application. I am going with surgery.

My right knee locks and can take hours to finally get it to unlock where I can straighten it or put weight on it. ( I got "trapped" in the bathtub once with it locked..LOL! was NOT fun) My left one clicks and grinds. I am holding off until winter to get something done. I'd rather be laid up when it's too cold to do anything else. And getting more weight off of them will aid in healing..

Sorry about the knee, I have had both of mine scoped, do no more than suggested for the recovery time. It will fell a little wobbly for several weeks. Good Luck

Darrell
I may end up getting the other one done also late summer. It has similar symptoms but not nearly as bad. My (now educated) guess is that it has at least one tear. My plan year ends in August, so if I hit OPM getting this one done the other one would be "free" if it were in the same plan year.
