Good morning, my spouse and I are looking into buying a home in Trenton and we are curious. How deep is the water there on the river, is it big enough to fish in with a small boat with gas and trolling motor? Small being a 10ft pelican bass raider. What species are in there? Specifically are there catfish?

Thanks for your help!

I've not fished all the way up to Trenton, but I've fished the Nuese and Trent rivers for decades. Typcially the water is deep enough to run your gas motor. You can catch just about any panfish species, and bass and catfish in the rivers. I think you're going to have better luck catfishing the Nuese side though. I see a number of folks catfishing up around Swift Creek. Some of the best perch, bream and crappie fishing in ENC, is on those rovers.

One drawback of the Trenton area is that it floods typically in the hurricanes, hopefully your safe there.
