I'm introducing my 10 year old daughter to kayaking a fishing. She's taken to casting but now it's time to get into some fish. I'd like to take her bream CATCHING (and releasing) somewhere in the Triangle (we're in Apex). Somewhere we can soak some crickets. I've done well at University Lake long ago, would appreciate any good spots you all can share.

As far as guaranteed catching from a kayak goes, you can't beat Lake Crabtree. No motors, hardly ever crowded, decent launch area, no launch fee, and the place is loaded with panfish and small channel cats. You can't eat anything due to PCBs (helps with over-fishing), but if you're going for CPR this place is perfect.

Good luck!

I go fly fishing for bream a lot over at Harris Lake from my kayak. There are some big ones in there if you can find them.
