This is a good spot if you go early, the kids gang up there and take up the limited parking. I fish there a lot before the water warms enough to go swimming.there is a good spot to put a yak in on Stokes Ferry Road.

Yeah jumping off the bridge has been a literal right of passage in the area for some time. Ive seen a big shovelhead or two pulled off those bridge pilings. This is a good spot if you go early, the kids gang up there and take up the limited parking. It's already a 4 lane divided highway at that point; why do they need to get rid of it?Flat Creek Access area isn't too bad as far a people vandalism goes...but the freaking vultures are tearing vehicles to shreds pulling off wiper blades and even the rubber around your windshield. The NCWRC is currently trying out dead vulture decoys hanging upside down from the poles and they frequent the area shooting off screamer rounds to try and scare the birds off. Use 49 while you can...when the highway construction gets there before too long...it will no longer exist. I was told by a Yadkin employee that ALCOA/Yadkin is trying to negotiate a new area on the other side of that cove but is getting resistance from the City of Albemarle since they own that property for their water intake.
It is still 2 lanes there...it splits right at the parking lot. Supposedly there are some right of way issues with the parking lot...the highway is shifting over that way. It's already a 4 lane divided highway at that point; why do they need to get rid of it?
