I'm headed up to Valle Crucis on May 1 to fish and want to camp out the night before somewhere since it's such a drive from Durham.

Anybody have any favorite places for a cheap campsite? Just need to pitch a tent.

Any fly fishing tips right now would be awesome as well.

I'm no help other than searching google. Maybe Dbeam will chime in that's getting in his end of the state. I do see campgrounds within 5 miles.

What kind of trout do you want to fish for?

Wild or stocked?

There's a public park right in valle crucis with great stream access. Also you'll be very close to the DH Watauga section. PM me if you're interested in that.

I don't care. Just want something on my line. I am a newbie to fly fishing but not to fishing in general. I'm open to anything.
