Started fly fishing in Feb. and fell in love with the sport! Love, love, love wading the rivers in Surry and Wiles counties and wish i had some closer to me in Cabarrus County.

Does anyone know of any good wading rivers in the Piedmont sections of the state? Maybe Cabarrus, Stanly, Union or Anson counties? I'm not looking for any secrete spots or honey holes, just some ideas of rivers that would be good small mouth fishing via wading.

Hope I don't offend anyone by asking and thanks!

I believe Yadkin around part of Pilot Mt. state park will have some limited wade access...on the rocks etc. That area has been publicized in a couple of magazines. New River and it's forks will also have some spots that are wadeable and can be productive at times...but 1-2 hours from the piedmont. Check out ncwildlife.org...seems like they posted their smallmouth survey map on that site???
