Stayed at Goose Creek State Park cabin for three nights before Harrison starts 5th grade. These cabins are utilitarian, but are very clean and have good AC, same for the bath house which has nice warm showers. Really nice base camp for Pamlico exploration. The entire area seems loaded with bait, both menhaden and mullet. Lots of folks out chasing the old drum, but we had fun catching "rat" reds using cut mullet & pogies. We did a few outings near Dinah's Landing and we went to Wright's Creek on Saturday morning. Probably caught ~30 reds, the biggest was 22" and the next biggest 19". A few small flounder caught and released. We did an afternoon on Tranter's Creek trying to add a Gar to our species caught list. We had rope lures and saw tons of gar surfacing in a river bend, but no luck getting one tangled up. We did catch a really big bowfin on red worms under a cork. Tight lines....
