I prefer to use artificials. 3/8 -1/2 oz jigs with flukes or curly tail jigs. At the current river level, clouser type flies on 300-400 grain sinking fly lines can be very effective if retrieved on a very short (2 or 3 inch) strip as it keeps the lure in the strike zone for long periods of time.

WIth any sort of bait you need to be sure your bait is close to the bottom and some sort of twitching retrieve is best. Be sure and keep a tight line on the drop as that is when the bite typically occurs.
