I got a little burned out on the interweb world so I have been incognito this spring. So here is what I have been up to. It was a slow start to this year but we made up for it with good numbers and size. I have been exploring a lot of new water this year and have got a fair number off goose eggs to show for it BUT, that is the only way to learn new waters. Besides about 1 out of 5 times you hit the jackpot! You can't catch fish without a fly in the water!

Started out hot with my first Musky on a fly 36" It was hard to get a picture, this thing beat the daylights out of me in and out of the water...

and caught some purty specks!!!

I hope everyone is getting out and enjoying this world we are all so blessed to be in! I have high hopes for brown bass and brown trout this summer and hopefully a return to Idaho and Montana this fall, I got a re-occuring case of Cutty and Bull Troutitis. It is all about experiencing Gods awesome creation with great friends and family. You only get one shot at this life, make it count.

"When I am old," says Tewksbury, "I want to remember this, all of this. Above all, these mountains and their streams and their trout, every sensation, every shadow, every sound. These days. Always, I want to remember these days."

Very nice! Beautiful fish.. What caused the rod to break?
On this particular 1 out of 5,000 times I have fallen fishing these creeks - The rod decided to get between me and the boulders. I ate it pretty bad and landed on the rod. At that point I was 2 hours from a trail and another hour to the truck (I was way up in the Smokies). So I had to figure out some way to get back in the game. I miss Avery, especially the other day fishing with Darrell but he is at Sage getting doctored up right now. We expect him to be off IR by the end of the summer...

I cant see how you had a chance to miss your rod as much time as you spent trying to teach new tricks to an old dog. It was a great trip thanks again for guiding.

I know it sounds cheesy but I honestly believe that I was blessed with these pictures because I was so focused on taking care of that fish and making sure I got a clean, healthy release. The biggest speck I had caught before was 10.5 inches so this bad boy made my spring. Thanks for fixing my picture posting ineptness!

He was the alpha for about 100 yards leading into it. I had been catching them frequently then it went dry as the Sahara. I was getting confused and worried as to why and then he came up and crushed my dry. Scared me to death when he hit actually. I immediately knew why I had not been catching anything leading up to it. Their was a barrier above the pool so he was as high as he was going.
