Found an old prop bait and was wondering if anyone knew what kind it was? There are no letters or numbers on it.

Looks home made to me. The early Spartan looking heddons and phleuger's didn't show a seam like that one has. And the eye looks imperfect. And most manufacturer's would have a stamp somewhere on the blade or body of the lure. It appears to be plastic which means it was made no earlier than the 1930's. Very cool. I'd send a photo to one of the antique lure forums for more information. Either that or go catch a bass with it!

It might be a Cotton Cordell Crazy Shad ca. 1980

Looks very similar except Crazy Shads had yellow eyes and no seam across the middle. Might have been used as a model to replicate the one the poster found. But why someone would make one when you could buy one for about $2 back in the day makes no sense either! A mystery indeed.

I've had some of these lures before and I'm blanking on who made them but it's not older than about 1975

The blades are reminiscent of old Devils Horse. Wonder if it's an old Smithwick bait of some kind.

You may want to try E Z Bait & Tackle in Goldsboro. Scott Hobbs , which is also his website name,on this website could find out for you. He works there. It may be too far from you.

I see a few on Ebay. But they get pricey!
