I don't have a boat and have been fishing from docks on Cherry point in Slocum and the Nuese without much luck. I've been using bait shrimp, cut mullet, squid and gulp 3" shrimp. Haven't had much luck. Does anyone have any tips on what I could use for rigs and bait. Also, what are some good lures to use for cast and retrieve in those waters?

Get a popping cork, add about 20 inches of leader to 1/8 ounce jighead and add the Gulp shrimp. Pop pop the cork and pause, repeat often. The popping of the cork simulates feeding fish and others will come and check it out.

That sounds great. I will definitely try that. Is there a certain type of rig I should use when I fish bait. This may sound dumb but I have been using a drop shot and I think crabs keep eating my bait. Never really had that issue in Denver. Haha

Carolina rig with around 1/2 oz should be all you need for the natural bait.
Awesome, thanks rooster tail. I will do some research. I appreciate the input!

catch some minnows in a cast net or with a minnow trap and fish under the popping cork. float the cork near the shoreline and hold on.
