Has anybody caught anything freshwater this week since the extreme colds hit? A buddy and I are hoping to take his boat to the roanoke in a week or two but I haven't seen many posts from the Piedmont this week. I'm getting cabin fever now that deer season is over. Had a few bites the other day in a small farm pond but that was before it got so cold.

I caught bass last week on Jordan and Kerr, and could probably still catch some. Surface temps probably dropped a good bit but a few feet down it is probably still the right temperature for a good bite. If the bass wont bite, the crappie will.

Don't give up on fishing the rivers and creeks. On every outing as of this past Tuesday we are catching Bass and Pickerel on plastics/Rat-L-traps. ...Most days between 20-30 fish. Nothing really big....LMB 4#....Pickeral 2#

I have been reading up on them. Only ever fished stripers in Connecticut and they could eat the ones in the roanoke. I haven't done it in years and I'm excited to get on some roanoke ones in a week or two. What is considered good striper weather? We are trying to figure out a good day to make a trip. Also, do y'all use jerk baits and bucktails? My grandfather only fished with live bait.

Only been down at the mouth of the river at Plymouth one time and caught them on gulp jerk shad with pink 3/16 oz jig head and also white Spro bucktails with a 7" white curly tail culprit worm on it. If I go back I'm going to try a 1/4 or 1/2 oz Billy Bay Halo shad in white of some sort. Trolling with a rattling Rogue or xr-8 or xr-10 will surely work as well.

I believe on the weekends its fair game. I agree though, they have a ridiculous parking system over there. There is a tackle shop on lake wheeler road that sells live minnows when the time comes.

I'm going to have to get on some when they move shallower. I wish you could park there during the day, I don't want to have to park in a parking deck with a canoe on top of the truck.
unless it has changed drastically if you have any form of student parking sticker for the semester you have fair game to park down by the lake any time you want when the sun is up
