Hey all, new to the forum here and definitely have some questions along with some knowledge to share! I've been all over Lake Norman and it has no good cover, what a boring lake to fish! Does anyone know of any lakes or ponds within a 45 minute drive of Huntersville/Cornelius with some good cover like lily pads or tall grass?

I don't know the area, but judging from the posts I've seen about the immediate Charlotte area, I think the fishing options are pretty limited there, especially for small water. Wish you luck.

I'm not sure where you are looking on Norman but from where I sit, there are thousands of docks that offer incredible cover. Out from many of these docks are brush piles and rock piles put there by the owners and other anglers.

I live on Norman and only bought a place there because it's in my top two favorite lakes to fish...the other being in SC.

I don't need it but I'm sick of using the same techniques, I want an area where I can fish frogs, punch, flip jigs (besides at docks), looking for some heavy emergent vegetation, lay downs, maybe cypress. It looks like Ducks Cove on Mountain Island might be decent? Forget the 45 minutes, I'll drive and hour and a half at this point.

If you go up the river on Norman, you will find lots of laydowns, grass and pads for sure. Badin has emergent grass and rocks...Tillery has grass and pads, along with lots of slimy grass. Basically, most of the lakes in NC have cover, and different kinds of it. It isn't Florida, but there is cover.
