 Ok here is the problem! Used (new to my family) 22' CC (Pic's to follow soon) Looking to purchase new GPS/Chartplotter. Have used Garmin products for years and happy with same. (hand held, boat mounted, truck turn by turn). Am willing to pay $700-1500 total package me install. Have looked at the Garmin 545's but am wondering who has the MAGIC WAND this week that can tell me the unit I will be happy with for my hard earned money with no regets or problems. Just kidding guys just looking for the best input you have. Dave B. are you still running the 435 Raymarine you reviewed in 2006?
Thanks again.

I have a Lowrance 520c they run in the neighborhood and I veryt staisfied with it. They run in the neighborhood of $650 the Map Cards run about another $100 ea. The 520 has a 5" screen but if I had $1500 in my budget I would go with the X-28 which has a 7" screen. Often you will want to veiw a split screen showing both the chartplotter and fishfinder at the same time. The larger screen makes the viewing in this mode much easier. Also, the X-28 has a 30 GB memory that's preloaded with most of the map detail.

Congrats on the new boat! We look forward to seeing pictures.

I like the Garmin products but also have been impressed with the Ray Marine products. My advice is get the biggest screen for which you have room and money.

With all the great posts Dave has helped us with in the past I would be glad to take Dave out as long as he didn't look down on my fishing ability or low budget boat.

With my eyes getting worse with age the bigger the better in any screen mode. LOL

I think in Dave's case, it a temporary condition. I can't wait to go on his new ride :) (it'll be sweet I'm sure!).
I didn't know you felt that way about me Zook...sigh....boatless bank trash....harsh....:rolleyes::eek::D
Coach just remember this... Most of those boats are trying to fish the same bank your walking on, they just cover more ground and spend more $$ doing it!!..LOL!

SUNDROP
Primarily Boatless Bank Trash til 2006!

Yeah! Dave is between rides. He's in Fla. taking a fishing refresher course from his sister just to make sure he is worthy of an upgrade.:)
