Do any of you catch white perch while shad or striper fishing the neuse on the spring run? Or maybe some on here target them early spring in the neuse?

I saw an episode of Carolina Outdoor Journal a month or so ago where they fished for whites on the spawning run. Im not sure if they were on the Neuse or Roanoke but did catch a striper or two mixed in.

They were on the Roanoke. I saw the video too.

I've never caught them on the neuse but catch plenty each year on the roanoke. They seem to be there for 3-4months

Used to be a lot of them in the Trent. I've never targeted them, but have caught them while fishing for other fishes. The ones I caught were in Brices Creek a few years back. I still see others fishing for white perch in the Trent today.

Where they reproduce in the Piedmont lakes is no secret. They are everywhere.

Yeah but they are trapped in a lake -can't escape. In the tidewaters they could swim to the Flemish Cap for all I know. After all, eels go to the Sargasso to get it on.

Seems the ones you catch in the brackish creeks around here are pretty good size. And they are a ton of fun on ultralight and good to eat. Whats not to love.

WOW now that's a cooler - quantity and quality in the middle of July. Where are they now (besides his cooler?)
