Anyone fish here or more specifically kayak fish here? Checked out the ramp today on 301 as I was driving past. Looks like no motors allowed and 2 dollar ramp fee. Can anyone give information about the bass, crappie and catfish there? Thanks!

From Google Map the tail race looks fishy as well.

That dam/waterfall? It's about 50 yards from the ramp. It's only about a mile off 264.
Next time I am out that way I will have to get the SIL and head out that way.

Looks like you could put a boat in at the dam though. Not sure if it's like most of these types of fisheries, they'll let you fish with a motorized boat, as long as you don't crank the outboard.

It looks like a bigger Tull's Mill pond a little to me.

Curtis Pelt may know something about this lake. That could be the one I saw on the way to Curtis M&G last year at Wilson.

I've fished there all my life since I only live about 20 minutes from there. It's a pretty good spot, never really gets too crowded. I usually fish there for crappie but there are plenty of bass, catfish, brim out there too. Tons of structure to cast to. I'll help as much as I can if you have any specific questions.

Is that the place next to Bill Ellis?
Zblackz28 To use a kayak is there just a 2 dollar ramp fee? I saw a sign about boat permits. What is that?
Cast some tandem crappie jigs around the channel on the bottom side of the dam in the next few weeks. Could get crappie but also should get a good number of shad.

As far as I know it's just a few bucks to put any kind of boat in there and fish, I can't remember if it's $2 per person or per boat. I think it would be a great place to fish by kayak.

I realize this is an older post but i thought i would give it a try , ive fished the mill from the bank but never from a kayak , just getting into it this year, my question : is it possible to maneuver the other side of the dam to be able to go down contentnea creek and back ?

Welcome to NCAngler!
Current has a few spots that you will have to get out, get in and pull and get wet coming back. My advice...............just fish from the bank. I have no idea what it's like down past the golf course though.................for 200 yards below the dam it gets pounded hard by the usual suspects. There are better spots.
