My wife is leaving for Arizona again on Thursday and after I drop her off at the airport at 4 am ,(she doesn't enjoy moving to new places in the military I guess), I was thinking about fishing. I would have all day but can't go off shore. Anybody know any decent places to try? I have only fished Jacksonville and Swansboro so don't know where to try. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is a put in under Memorial Bridge in Wilmington that gives easy access to the battleship area. Haven't use it this year but it has a fairly steep drop off at the end of the ramp and can be a little tricky at low tide. If you put in there, I'd recommend heading north and fishing along the RR trestle bridge and some of the other structures along the west bank in that area.
Putting in at the Wrightsville Beach wildlife ramp is easy this time of year and as James said, lots of good backwater fishing right int at area. That would be your EASY button, I think.
