Winter Surf Fishing

What ICM said. Some years can have great fishing through January, and artificials will work very well until the water just gets too cold. Water temp on EI today was 64 degees. If you can find fish, they will bite.
I thought it was colder than that. Is there a more accurate local resource than the big NOAA chart?

The water temps are a crazy dynamic, if the NOAA charts are credible. Sometimes fingers of warm and cold water seem to move in and out of places with no real pattern. I was wondering if that was happening down there.

I surfed on Sat at Bogue Inlet Pier. 58 felt right.
I drove ~7.5 hours to get water in the 60s over the weekend to practice beach launches/landings on my SUP at Amelia Island. Did a little super long board surfing as well in some of the landings. I was also visiting family down there. I didn't drive that far just to feel overdressed in a 3mm wet suit, but it was nice to have warmer water and air (got into the upper 70s for a few hours on Sunday).
