Welcome aboard! The absolute best time would have to be the fall. But there's good fishing in the surf from Spring through the fall & early winter. What part of our coast to you plan to visit?

Best time to fish is any time you can!!

Gee, if you're planning a trip all the way from Wisconsin, just for surf fishing, I'd almost be tempted to suggest that you watch the Fishin'Militia website for when the drum run actually hits, and then take a plane to Billy Mitchell field as fast as you can.

If you don't have a single-engine plane, or if you otherwise can't react that quickly, we'd have to go on historical trends... I think end of summer -- Sept, Oct or thereabouts -- is the time that usually happens...

Thanks, I intend on flying into Wilmington, September was one of my options.

We'll have some great fishing then - red drum, specs, Blues, Pompano - my favorite from the surf, flounder, spots, sea mullet, croaker and a few more I missed I'm sure.

Nice another Wisconsin member. I'm from Wisconsin but stationed in NC. Time to head back up there and do some Walley and Muski fishing. But on any note welcome to the site soggy

Most of the ice is off of the lakes, time for Walley on the wolf, However; it is still cold and I am looking forward to fishing somewhere warm.

I say the best time is whenever you can swing it and show up in the suds. Most of the fishing stays the same just different species and people.
