I turn smaller ones. Make sure you account for your jigs in total bed length. I use forced air and gun drills to make fifes, whistles and small flutes under 18". My lathe bed is about 42" between centers, but when the drill is backed all the way out of the blank before I bore it, that basically cuts my capacity in half.
