Is there any access to the Yadkin above the lake?

From Paddling Eastern NC:

US 321 Roadside (7.1 miles) --> NC 268 bridge near Patterson school (6.6 miles) --> Grandin Road (5.8 miles) --> NC 268 at Ferguson

I read something on another site about access above the lake. I'll PM you if I find it.

I live close by and once upon a time fished this area. wading mostly. Would like to fish it again with another kayak angler. Pretty area and home of Tom Dula (dooley) of "hang down your head fame". Smalls, redbreast and a trout or three if memory serves. Access limited which I like. One of the prettiest valleys in the state.

I would like to float a stretch or two. Ray Wells has done Tom Dula road to Marelys ford a couple of times this year.
