Anyone ever fished Catherine Lake in Richhlands? Is it open to the public? It looks like a good sized lake to try to get access to.

I grew up near there and I use to fish it when I was a kid (long time ago). We caught mostly catfish. My buddy's Grandmother lived in the big house on the corner of firetower road right across the road from the lake. There use to be a little store there that sold bait and some tackle and you could put a small boat in there but I think it's gone. Most of the land is all private. My sister lives right down the road from there so I'll ask her if she knows about accessing the lake these days.

Talked to few people who used to fish it. All the land around it is private from what they say. Must be a home owner or with the homeowner to fish it. They said it use to be good for some catfish but they never bass fished it any. Let us know what you find out.

Talking about Richlands, they used to be some pay lakes up in th that area off 24 that had some real nice bass in them. Can't remember the name right off hand. Its been 10 yrs now and my memory has slipped abit .

Is there any water left in it. Lots of trouble last few years with the mining, I think the sand pit. They were blaming the mining for the loss of water. There were a few bream in it about 6-7 years ago, but you can pretty much wade across it now.

I had to pick up a friend from the airport today and it runs right by Catherine Lake. There seems to be no access that i could see and the water level was VERY LOW from the last time i seen the lake. I am trying to stock my pond with some nice Catfish (NOT BULLHEADS). If anyone can tell me where i could catch some that would be great. I live in Swansboro.

there are some pay ponds down past richlands a bit on 24. They are pay ponds. I took my little aluminum boat down there a couple years back and slaughtered bream on the first pond on the left side coming from richlands. Caught a few bass in there too. There are also some farm ponds towards kinston on 258 near snow hill. I cant give you exact directions cause i havent been there in a while. Hey roll tide you from bama? WELL WAR EAGLE SON. Im from Sylacauga alabama.

The pay ponds are down 24 between Beulaville and Kenansville. Stop at the little store (called Mom n Pops). It's $5 a person. I took the wife out there last year and we fished probably 4 or 5 hours and didn't catch anything. The problem is they let you keep everything you catch. Ponds are all fished out in my opinion.

Catherine lake- I used to fish that back in 03. It was awesome for bream and bass. Then one day someone came outside and said that I had to leave. Come to find out he told me it was privatatly owned. So I apologized and told him he might want to go down the road to the local bait shop and tell them to stop advertizing to fish there.

Now those pay lake I fished them twice in 03 also. Just for bluegill. You could catch hundreds of them except they were about 2 to 3 inches big. Never went back after that.
