Reversing a transom mount trolling motor?

I recently bought a foot controled Minn Kota 40-42 bow mount trolling motor for my boat. Before I mounted it, I arranged everything on the bow connected the wireing and set up the foot pedal in the boat. I shortly came to the conclusion that all this "technology" was going to be to cumbersome and clutter up the boat too much.

I already have a transom mount troller, so I did some experimenting and I think I can adapt a transom mount motor (with a 42" shaft") to work on the bow. However, the prop would be facing forward. It seems that I remember someone mentioning on here that either the handle end or the motor end is reversable by unscrewing a screw.
Is this indeed true?

I've had a couple that had a screw & nut in the head (one was def motor guide, don't recall the other). Went looking for a parts diagram but only found the assertion on their FAQ page that they can be rotated:

Can the head or control box of my transom mount hand control be rotated for use on the bow or for backtrolling?

Yes, by removing the screw and nut at the base of the control box the control box can be turned 180 degrees on the motor tube, then reinstall the locating screw and nut (being careful not to pinch or damage the motor wires inside the tube), tighten the screw and nut as required, and the job is complete.

Some models you have a screw at the bottom of the head and others you have to take the top
plate off the head....remove the main bolt, rotate the head 180 degrees and reinsert the bolt...

Easy as pie and works like a charm....just be sure not to nick the wires and such when replacing
the head and bolts....:):)

Thanks guys! I did a little research this morning and I think the motorguide varimax transom mount will do the trick. It even states that all it takes to "reverse" the motor for bow mounting is an allen screw.
