Hi All! I am looking for any help you may be able to provide to help me find fish inshore around Topsail Beach! We have found limited success by the last three docks on the island (lots of people fishing from the beach there) and also behind Lee's Island. We have a Carolina Skiff, so we prefer to stay inshore.

We are quite new at this, so your help is really much appreciated!

We have mainly been bottom fishing with live minnows and shrimp on a Carolina rig; however, we are open to all suggestions. This summer, we caught some flounder (mostly small ones tho), croaker, a small shark, seemingly endless pinfish, a few lizardfish, two small grouper, and an octopus. Where are the drum that everyone keeps catching!? Trout? Anything else we should be looking out for?

Thanks so much!

If your serious & it sounds like you are. I dought many on here will be giving up "honey holes".
Posting them in an open forum ( like you have done ), even asking for them is won't make you many friends.
General questions are better suited & will get you quick answers. I'm trying to be helpful, so please do not get upset.

I can answer part of your question about other species, Black Drum, Bluefish, Ladyfish, Ribbonfish, Jack Crevels, Pompano, Virgina Mullet ( aka Whiteing ).
Tarpon, Spanish, Kings, Sails, Bonito, False Ablies, Grouper, Amber Jacks, Sharks, Barracuda & Cobia, are all within the reach with your boat ( depending on it's size & your desire ).
Reds & Trout are here year round. Flounder you have covered.

Hope this helps. ........ ICM

Buy local, they will remember you & try to help with your learning curve.
Start with East Coast Sports, Surf City. Family run business with lots of experience, knowledge & good friendly staff.
And some very good fisherman work there, even seen Capt. Chris catch a fish. :D
Ask for Chuck, but don't tell him I sent you. :)

Tackle shops are great places to meet & learn from people with the same interest. .......... ICM
Yep, we already spend quite a bit of money at ECS! Everyone there is great!
