Brace yourself..... I am a singer. Did some frontman work in the 80's in local bands. Made some cash in karaoke competitions. Notice I did not say Vocalist, I said singer LOL...

Ya'll musicians come to JW's Place the 1st Tues. night in Calypso and jam with us. We play a mixture so everybody can join in. Some bluegrass, gospel, and a little country.Lot's of fun and some pretty good players show up from time to time.

Im not that good... i can play the right handed part of "The Entertainer" with both hands and thats where my skills end

Southern rock, Classic rock, Modern rock for me mostly.

Calypso is 2 1/2 hours away from me - I only go that far for fishing. Actually, we have some great blues jams right here in Greensboro (where I live) and I don't have time to go to them either. Priorities change! Can't do everything, so do what you love and don't worry about the rest... if I ever get to retire I'll be busier than I am now, for sure, and loving every MINUTE of it. Won't they be surprised when the old lady kicks the heck out of the drums at some jam, someday. :)

In an effort to turn our 'who we are' thread back towards fishing and away from American Idol I'm dragging what's left of what was once a still strong ex jocks body down to Atlantic Beach in the morning. It's kind of a rehab assignment from my recent maladies but somehow the Calcutta's, All Star's and tackle have made their way into the car. My tank is pretty much empty but there's enough fuel for some early morning and late evening fishing around the pier at the Sheraton. Got the camera too of course because Red X'rs love to relive and share their trips. This Red X'r is in dire need of salt air and I know I'll be coming back home feeling much better!!

Good grief, I think we go "off topic" on every thread, sooner or later, no worries - but SO glad to hear you're back at it, h2ohhh, we wanna see pics (on another thread, of course!). :)

I'll settle this once and for all and tell you who the Red-X-Anglers are. It is a fishing club that is full of the best guys & gals that you could ever expect to meet. Most " if not all " would go out of there way to assist you. They will gladly give you fishing information, and even take you fishing.
More importantly they have events to help disabled veterans, and veterans returning from harms way. They also care about the environment by scheduling clean up's of our waterways.
I have yet to meet a Red-X-Angler that I do not like, and I will say again, they are a great bunch of guys & gals.

Ditto to everything y'all said - so far I haven't met a Red X'er I didn't like or couldn't trust - but I do think we're all a little crazy which just makes it more fun! Brain cells are overrated - it's the heart that counts! :)
