Man that thing is purty. Jackson’s always look great

Sold my Commander 120 and got back into a SOT. Found a good price on a kayak I’ve had my eye on for awhile, in the color I wanted it in. Added flush holders today, lots of rigging to do tomorrow including the Lowrance and Anchor Wizard. I’m pumped about this thing

That’s a hybrid style and should be very stable. Not fast though. Personally, I’d steer away from Ascend as they’ve had some quality issues. But not everyone has them. Stick to the big names like Jackson, Wilderness Systems, Native, etc and you should retain resale value pretty well if you buy used and take decent care of it

I've had a Pamlico, Jackson Coosa and a wilderness tarpon. The Pamlico was a sit in and I really liked it but it was a tandom. The Jackson and wilderness SOT and over time I convinced myself that I'd rather have a sit in. Today I purchased a new Ascend H10 for half price from BPS because it had one scuff mark on it and it was the display kayak. I'm getting up in the age and I needed something light weight and very stable. My fishing trips will only be 2-3 hours max. I'm not going to load it down with all kinds of accessories I'm just going to keep it simple.

Here's my Wilderness Ride 115 I picked up used a few weeks ago. Finally stopped raining long enough to take it out for it's maiden voyage. Super impressed. Really stable, even with the high seat, comfortable and tracks well. Plan on adding a fishfinder at some point, and replacing the no drill anchor trolley the old owner put on, with a YakAttack Leverloc system.
My first kayak was a 10 ft Pelican Icon and this thing just blows it away. I mean, it's not even close. Really happy!

Here's my basic fishing rig - Lifetime tandem fishing kayak (heavy, but super stable), cooler (tacklebox inside it for launching), trolling motor on mount (built for this model), 2 batteries in secured bag.

Also have a home-made carrier, built on a bicycle child carrier chassis. That needs improving (still tinkering), but it was good for the 550 yard trek to the water along the service road at Bodie Island Lighthouse.

My SUP, set up for fishing. Kneeling to mess with gear, but sometimes sitting on cooler. This is out at Yaupon Reef about a mile and a half offshore from Oak Island. I have a low profile "crate" with rod holders, a soft cooler with tackle, the hard cooler and a fish bag. BTW, I am wearing a belt with an inflatable PFD (cartridge and ripcord). You can see that better in the second picture.

Getting ready to launch at Topsail near the Jolly Roger Pier. There is a strap all the way around that keeps the rods on the deck with the fish bag over them; the other end goes through an opening in my rod holder setup. The strap comes off once I am through the breakers.

Lifetime tandem fishing kayak, w/ trolling motor (for when current, wind, waves wear me out). Recently added anchor trolley w/ 10-lb mushroom anchor w/ milk jug at top end to find it if I detach in case I hook something that'll pull me around (fantasy, so far!). It's a solid, stable platform, hardest part of using it is hefting it up on top of the car. Had it about 2 years now, like to take it to Goose Creek.

I recently bought a new kayak for my seat. Thanks to recommendations from Stew Rat and a Jackson Kayak representative , Mark Wheeler, I purchased a Jackson CUDA. This being my first new kayak, I wanted to get the best kayak for where I fish. I have been fishing at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and Rudee. I still love the freshwater too. In my humble and honest opinion, the Cuda is the F/A18 of fishing kayaks. Stable and fast enough to stand up and fish and handle the 3 knot current around the CBBT. Not at the same time of course, well not yet anyway. I haven't modified it at all as it comes ready right off the shelf. But I may add a forward rod holder and other things later after more trips. My behind is what drew me to the Cuda. The seat on my Tarpon was really hurting me. So this is my new kayak and I highly recommend it. Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I have been getting my behind in the brine.

I have a sea kayak I've been using longer than a decade.

Here's a 10lb mackinaw I caught in the mountain lake this spring
